TAKE IT DOWN Act

Removing intimate images shared without consent

If an intimate image or video of you is on perso and you did not agree to it being published, you can ask us to remove it. You do not need an account. This page explains how, and what we will do.

Make a removal request

Who can ask

The person shown in the image or video, or someone authorised to act for them, such as a parent, guardian or lawyer.

What we need from you

  • Your signature: type your full name. This counts as your electronic signature.
  • Where the image or video is on perso: a link to the post or profile, and anything else that helps us find it.
  • A short statement that you believe in good faith that it was published without your consent, with anything that helps us see that.
  • An email address where we can contact you.

What we will do

  • We give you a tracking number straight away. You can use it on the request page to check the status at any time.
  • A person reviews your request. If it is valid, we remove the image or video as soon as possible, and no later than 48 hours after we received your request.
  • We also look for exact copies of the same file elsewhere on perso and remove those too.
  • We email you when the request is completed or if we cannot act on it, and tell you why.
  • We keep a record of each step. We do not put the image, or your description of it, into any email or log.

The person who posted it

We tell the person who posted the content that it was removed and why. We do not tell them who asked.

Other routes

This process is for intimate images and videos. For other content you believe is illegal, use the illegal content notice form. If the image or video was taken when the person shown was under 18, NCMEC's free Take It Down service (takeitdown.ncmec.org) can also help stop it being shared on other participating platforms. If you are in danger, contact your local emergency services first.

Check a request you have made

This process is provided under section 3 of the TAKE IT DOWN Act (Public Law 119-12). It is open to everyone, wherever you live.
