About perso
perso is built by Etienne Gillard, a European entrepreneur and investor. It exists for a simple reason: the public internet lost track of who is real. perso is a social network where everyone who posts or replies has passed an ID check, and membership, not advertising, funds the platform, so it answers to its members.
perso is European by design. It runs on European infrastructure and is built around European data-protection rules, including GDPR and eIDAS. Trust is not a feature added at the end; it is the foundation.
Your feed
Your feed, not an algorithm's
On most platforms, you are not the customer. You are the product: your attention is the thing being sold, and a ranking algorithm decides what to show you based on what keeps you scrolling, not on what you asked to see. That is the business model, and the feed is where it lives.
perso is built the other way around. Because members pay a small fee, we work for you, not for advertisers, so we do not need to farm your attention. Your home feed reflects that directly: it shows posts from verified people, newest first. No one pays to be in it, and paying does not push a post up. A chronological feed ends, on purpose, because we are not trying to keep you here longer than you want to be.
What decides whether a post appears in your home feed is simple and public: the author has verified their ID, the post's visibility setting lets you see it, and you have not blocked or muted the author. Not follower count, not likes, not who paid, not who is "important." When you are the customer instead of the product, your feed can just be your feed. perso is a social network where everyone who posts, replies, likes or follows has passed a government photo ID check, and one ID document opens one account. Anyone can read public posts without paying. perso is mobile-first, ad-free, and funded by membership rather than advertising.
Who can join?
Anyone 18 or older, in a country or region where perso is offered, can create an account, and reading public posts needs no account. To take part, you become a member and pass a one-time identity check. Membership is paid, but journalists approved for the press waiver do not pay. The check is done with perso's verification provider, Didit: you scan a government photo ID and take a short selfie for liveness. perso does not store the raw ID images; what it keeps from the check is set out in the Privacy Policy.
Who operates perso?
perso.social is operated by ACGG Rent, S.L., a Spanish company (sociedad limitada) registered in Madrid, which is the publisher and sole data controller for perso. It is represented by founder Etienne Gillard. perso runs on European infrastructure and is built around EU data-protection law, including GDPR and eIDAS.
