Delete your perso account
perso is a social network for verified people, provided by ACGG Rent, S.L. This page explains how to delete your perso account and the personal data linked to it, and what we keep after deletion.
Delete your account in the app
This is the quickest way, and your account is closed at once.
- Open the perso app and sign in.
- Open the Profile tab and tap the settings button at the top right.
- Tap "Delete my account".
- Tap "Delete my account" again, type DELETE MY ACCOUNT, and tap "Confirm deletion".
- Deletion cannot be undone. If you want a copy of your data, export it first in Settings, under "Your Data Rights".
- If you pay for a perso membership through the App Store or Google Play, deleting your account does not cancel that subscription. Cancel it first in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings, or you may still be charged.
If you no longer have the app or cannot sign in
A perso account has no password, so we cannot delete an account just because someone asks. You need to show that the account is yours, in one of two ways.
- Install the perso app. On the sign-in screen, tap "Lost access? Recover with your identity." and verify your identity again with the same identity document you used when you joined. When your identity matches, you are signed back in, and you can delete your account as described above.
- Or write to dpo@perso.social with the subject "Delete my account" and your @handle. We will ask you to show that the account is yours, and we delete it only once you have.
What is deleted
Account data is retained while your account is active and deleted within 30 days of account deletion via a cascading purge.
Identity-verification attributes are deleted or irreversibly anonymised, including the de-duplication identifier, as part of the account-deletion process.
If you chose to let us keep a face template, it is deleted when you delete your account.
What we keep, and for how long
Some records are kept after deletion, only for as long as stated here:
- A limited accountability record of the verification decision and its reason, held for up to 12 months for security and audit purposes, with any email address redacted.
- Records of moderation decisions and appeals, retained without a deletion timeline, for the life of the accountability obligation under the Digital Services Act; other moderation audit logs are deleted or irreversibly anonymised once no longer necessary.
- Network identifiers (IP address and browser information) captured with an account-recovery attempt are removed after 30 days; the recovery-attempt record is retained without them as a security-audit record.
- Content, messages and related account information needed to review or resolve an open report, complaint, appeal, account restriction, dispute, suspected misuse, safety matter or legal claim, only for as long as that process needs, or for the period a legal, regulatory, law-enforcement, court or preservation obligation requires.
- If content in your account is restricted because it may be child sexual abuse material, we keep that content and the account information that gives it context in a separate protected store, as the law requires, even if you delete your account; the rest of your account is deleted as usual.
